Can Party Members Study Arabic?15

The CPC has not taken an official position on party members studying Arabic. However, there is no evidence to suggest that the party is opposed to this trend. In fact, some party officials have even encouraged party members to study Arabic. For example, in 2016, the head of the CPC's Central Committee's Propaganda Department, Liu Qibao, said that "learning Arabic is a good thing." Liu's statement suggests that the party is at least tolerant of party members studying Arabic, if not supportive of it.

The trend of party members studying Arabic is likely to continue in the years to come. As China's economic and political power grows, it will become increasingly important for party members to be able to communicate with their counterparts in the Middle East. Additionally, the growing number of Chinese Muslims will continue to drive demand for Arabic language learning. With the rise in Chinese influence in the Middle East, it is likely that Arabic will become an increasingly important language for Chinese leaders to be able to communicate in.
