Key Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of the Arabic linguist will include, but are not limited to:
Translation and Interpretation: Accurate and nuanced translation of research materials, including academic texts, interview transcripts, and official documents, from Arabic to English and vice versa. This will require a deep understanding of both languages and the ability to convey meaning effectively across cultures. Interpretation services for meetings, interviews, and fieldwork will also be expected.
Data Analysis: Working with researchers to analyze Arabic language data collected through various methods, including surveys, interviews, and social media analysis. This requires proficiency in qualitative and potentially quantitative data analysis techniques, along with a strong understanding of linguistic methodologies.

Required Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Native or near-native fluency in Arabic, including both Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and at least one major dialect (e.g., Egyptian, Levantine, Gulf). Demonstrable proficiency will be assessed through a written and oral examination.
Excellent command of English, both written and spoken. Again, this will be rigorously tested.
Advanced degree in Linguistics, Translation Studies, or a related field. A PhD is highly desirable but not strictly required for exceptional candidates with extensive relevant experience.
Proven experience in academic research, translation, or interpretation, ideally within a social science context. Evidence of publication or presentation is preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
